Founder’s story

I am Flore, founder of Shweet Products. Originally Dutch (hence my not always perfect English) but passionate about South Africa ever since we drove down from Amsterdam in an old Hilux bakkie and settled here in 2011. I live in Cape Town with Oliver, love of my life and father of our boys of Tommy (2014) & Micah (2012).

I started developing and producing proudly South African kids’ products, when I was – how cliché – pregnant with my first born. Our educational range of puzzles, memory games and activity books now consists of 14 products and are sold in over 150 retail outlets in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Australia.

In 2018 we rebranded Pictures & Words into Shweet Products and launched a collection hats, head bands and visors. From shweshwe because of my true love for this South African fabric, and hats out of necessity: I had become completely bald due to chemo and had difficulties finding cool caps and hats to enable me to choose when I would show this off. Luckily, I am all better now, and although my hair is growing and the baldness a thing of the past, I am happy to say that the hats are here to stay!

I love that with Shweet Products I am able to shape my life by doing what I love: creating beautiful products and connecting with people around me, while contributing my bit to make South Africa a better place.

My dream is to make Shweet Products ‘the go to’ for original, quality, well-designed African flavoured gifts to clients all over the world. To continue to provide employment, growth opportunities and joy to our employees and suppliers, and to put a smile on the face of each of our client.

To be honest, this dream feels quite real already …  I am just busy upscaling!

Do you see a connection in the above? I would love to hear from you, your thoughts, ideas or collaboration opportunities.

P.S. And what else? I love to travel, love to read, do not deal well with repetition (hence my absolute love for creating new products!), I am known to be impatient, direct (Dutch 😃) and honest.
